Taxes are based on ownership as of April 1st. Tax bills are mailed in early September and are due October 15th each year.

Tax Rate: $6.30 per thousand dollars of valuation
Interest Rate: 6.5% beginning October 16th
Abatement Deadline: March 13, 2027 (within 185 days of commitment)

The last Town-wide revaluation was conducted in 2015.
The next Town-wide revaluation is scheduled to be completed for the 2027 tax year.
Tax Lien Process
Every June, reminder letters are sent to property owners with an outstanding balance.
Mid-July 30 day notices are mailed-any outstanding balance must be paid with cash, check or credit card
At the end of the 30-days Tax Liens are filed at the Registry of Deeds.
The tax lien will mature 18 months later resulting in automatic foreclosure by State Law.
Tax Liens are discharged within 60 days after full payment is received.
Property status is determined as of April 1 (commitment typically in early August)
If you own property on April 1, you are responsible for that year’s taxes, even if you sell the property after that date
Tax liens will be filed for the owner at the time the taxes were first assessed (the name listed on the original commitment)
