Helping Hands
Helping Hands of Westport Island is a charitable organization of volunteers who offer aid, comfort and companionship to residents of Westport Island who need a helping hand. They operate the Althea F. Cromwell Food Pantry on 38 Ferry Rd., provide emergency fuel assistance to those in need over the winter, provide rides, check on elderly and disabled residents during storms and power outages, and respond to many other requests for assistance. Donations are always welcome, and tax deductible. Reach out to President Michael Cromwell or Vice President Linda Davis if you are interested in donating, or are in need of help.

Friends of Westport Island History
The Friends of Westport Island History (FOWIH) works closely with the History Committee to foster the preservation, promotion, and presentation of Westport Island's rich history to the public. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3), they are able to accept donations and membership dues to cover the expense of purchasing, cataloging, preserving, and professionally presenting important historic documents and artifacts. They work with the History Committee to maintain and staff the History Center on 38 Ferry Rd. (open to the public Sundays 12:00 - 2:00 and by appointment). The Westport Community Association has been bringing our community together for seventy years with wonderful events from pancake breakfasts to concerts, wine tastings to holiday celebrations, and more! The community of Westport Island always has something to look forward to throughout the year thanks to the efforts of the WCA. See the Calendar for upcoming events. Westport Island Woodchucks
How much wood could a woodchuck chuck? As much as you need! The Westport Island Woodchucks are an informal organization of volunteers who work together to provide firewood to Westport Island residents in need. Reach out to Donna Curry if you or someone you know could use some firewood this winter.
Westport Volunteer Fire Dept.
The Westport Volunteer Fire Department (WVFD), incorporated in 1955, is an unpaid all-volunteer fire department whose members act as first responders for fire and medical services on the island. The Department is supported by Town funds and also does their own additional fundraising. They are always looking for new volunteers! Reach out to Fire Chief Stacey Hutchison if you're interested.
