Shellfish Licenses on sale at the Town Office!
Westport Island operates under a "Town Meeting" form of government. Our Select Board is elected by secret ballot in early June, and then we hold an annual Town Meeting in late June where the voters in attendance set the budget and priorities for the upcoming fiscal year in a document called the "Warrant." Between Town Meetings, the elected Select Board carries out the will of the last Town Meeting and makes all administrative decisions. We also hold state and federal elections. All Westport Island elections and Town Meetings happen at the Old Town Hall on 1217 Main Rd., where we've been holding our elections and meetings for over 200 years! For general information on registering to vote and voting absentee, please see our Services page. For information regarding recent and future Town Meetings and elections, see below!
