Town Officials
Town Officials are appointed by the Select Board, with the exception of the Road Commissioner who is elected. If you are interested in serving in an appointed position, contact the Select Board.
Archivist
The Archivist works to preserve Westport Island's historic municipal records.
Assessors Agent
The Assessors Agent assists the Select Board, in their role as the Board of Assessors, to assess property values and taxes. Assessors Agents are Certified Maine Assessors who have completed coursework and an exam, and are required to maintain their certification with ongoing coursework. If you have questions about your property taxes or would like to request an abatement, talk to the Assessors Agent.

Code Enforcement Officer
The Code Enforcement Officer (CEO) is responsible for administering and enforcing the town's ordinances related to land use and building. If you are building, renovating, or altering the landscape in any way, the CEO is your first stop! Start by filling out a Building Permit Application and bringing it to the Town Office.

Constable
The Constable is responsible for posting Town Meeting Warrants and other town notices. Buddy Greenleaf has been serving as Westport Island's Constable since 1996!

Emergency Management Assistance (EMA) Director
The EMA Director and Deputy Directors are responsible for preparing for and responding to emergencies on Westport Island. They work with County, State, and Federal agencies to train, respond, and assess damage. To receive telephone, email, or text alerts relating to emergencies in Lincoln County, you can sign up for the Code Red emergency alert system.

E-911 Addressing Officer
When a new residence or business is being constructed, a house number will be assigned by the E-911 Addressing Officer, in conjunction with State Emergency agencies. This ensures the address can be found in the case of an emergency, and also for mail delivery.

Harbor Master
The Harbor Master enforces the town's Waterways and Harbors Ordinance, including administering the mooring permit program.
LCRPC Westport Island Representatives
The Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission (LCRPC) assists Lincoln County towns in planning for the future. From comprehensive plans to grants to navigating state and federal bureaucracy, they are a great resource. The LCRPC allows each town a Select Board Representative, Select Board Alternate, and Public Representative to sit on their board.

Local Health Officer
The Local Health Officer is a state-mandated position that offers public health information and resources to the community.
Road Commissioner
The Road Commissioner is elected by the voters for a three-year term to oversee Westport Island’s road maintenance and repair.

Shellfish Wardens
Shellfish Wardens enforce the town's Shellfish Conservation Ordinance. Any resident found harvesting shellfish must be able to present a valid Westport Island shellfish harvesting license to a Shellfish Warden upon request.

Snow Removal Contractor
Every three years, the town accepts bids and enters a contract with a Snow Removal contractor to make sure our roads stay ice and snow free.
Tree Warden
The Tree Warden acts as a resource to residents regarding tree conservation and concerns about possible disease and pests impacting trees on the island.
